The label for Crossbow states that it will damage fruit and ornamental trees if it comes it contact with Crossbow.

  • Will this kill woody volunteer plants?

Crossbow could potentially harm a woody plant, on page 16 of the label, it gives some species that are easy and hard for Crossbow to control.

  • Will it kill cattails

  • How to spay to control Wild Violets.

A full list of instructions can be found on the Crossbow Speciality label. Since wild violets are perennial weeds, it's best to follow the instructions for postemergenct perennial weeds (page 12). The instructions would also depend on if you are spraying as a spot treatment or a broadcast treatment. For foliar broadcast treatment, wild violets can be found under the "2 - 4 qt/acre" column on page 14 of the label, listed as "violet, wild (P)". We always recommend to read the entire label for mixing ratios and how to handle the product safely.

  • What is the ratio for water in mixing?

The label for Crossbow gives a few different types of mixing ratios depending on what it's used on and how many acres the property is. The label gives a mixing ratio for 1%, 1.5%, and 4%, in sprayer gallon sizes from 1 gallon to 100 gallons. The label also says in what scenarios you would want to use each mixing ratio.

On Southern Ag's website for Crossbow, they say "For spot applications use 4 to 6 fl. oz in 3 gallons of water. spray to thoroughly wet all foliage. Application types and rates vary, consult product label for specifics."

  • Will it kill holly bushes?

Crossbow Specialty Herbicide isn't labeled for killing holly so it could possibly harm it or not. You can potentially treat holly bushes as stumps and use the product as labeled for stump application.
