Southern Ag Pyrethrin Concentrate previously known as Southern Ag Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate uses a natural insecticide, pyrethrin, that is made from a relative of chrysanthemum.

 

Pyrethrins have been used for decades as an insecticide. Use Southern Ag Pyrethrin Concentrate on ornamentals, vegetables, in your home, and even on pets to control a wide variety of insects. Can be use as a spray or dip.

 

To treat vegetables, mix 3 tablespoons (1.5 fl. oz.) pyrethrin with a gallon of water. Do not use more than one gallon per 1000 square feet outdoors, and no more than a gallon per 10,000 feet in a greenhouse. To treat flowers, ornamentals, trees, and shrubs, mix 5 tablespoons (2.5 fl. oz.) pyrethrin with a gallon of water.

Do not use more than one gallon per 1000 square feet, and do not apply more than once per day. For spot treatments, mix 7 fl. oz. per gallon of water and do not apply more than a gallon per 1000 square feet.  Active ingredients: Pyrethrins, 1%; Piperonyl Butoxide, technical, 10%.

  • AG Pyrethrin label says it can be used for livestock and dogs. How would I mix it for a flea spray and flea bath?

    Please see the label information below.  This is taken from the manufacturer's label that is linked on our website.  Please read the entire label before using. 

    PETS

    READ ENTIRE LABEL BEFORE EACH USE. USE ONLY ON DOGS (OVER 12 WEEKS OF AGE) TO KILL FLEAS, BROWN DOG TICKS, LICE AND SPINOSE EAR TICKS

    To kill FLEAS, BROWN DOG TICKS, AND LICE ON DOGS and to obtain protection against re-infestation:  Dilute at a rate of 1 part concentrate and 9 parts water and wet the animal by dipping or spraying.  To kill SPINOSE EAR TICK:  Dilute at the rate of 1 part concentrate and 24 parts of water and apply by individual treatment, syringing or pouring a few drops into the ears of dogs.  For best results against fleas and ticks on dogs, the kennels or animal quarters and bedding should also be treated.  Do not reapply product for 14 days.

    USE RESTRICTIONS

    For pet use: Do not apply to dogs less than 12 weeks old. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on medicated, debilitated, aged, USE RESTRICTIONS: (continued) pregnant or nursing animals. Sensitivities may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately. DO NOT USE ON CATS.


  • Does it kill bed bugs and dust mites?

    This product is labeled for control of bed bugs, but dust mites is not on the label.  However, several other kinds of mites are listed.  Please read the label before using.  

  • Kids in house how long before we can come back home

    The label for Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate states on the 4th panel: 

    "After space spraying, do not remain in treated area. Exit area immediately and remain outside the treated area until aerosols, vapors, and/or mists have dispersed."

    as well as:

    "Except when applying to animals (pets/livestock) do not enter or allow others to enter until sprays have dried and vapors, mists, and aerosols have dispersed, and the treated area has been thoroughly ventilated"

  • Spray on cats ok

    Southern Ag's Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate is hazardous to humans and animals, please do not apply the product on cats.

  • Is this effective on house plant aphids?

    Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate is only labeled for use on vegetables and ornamentals when controlling aphids, so we are unable to recommend it for indoor use.
    However, we can recommend a different product that is labeled for indoor use and specifically for aphids, Sierra Natural Science's PC Insecticide. This product is also organic.

  • Can you use it inside for roaches and spiders

    This product is labeled for indoor use, as well as for controlling roaches and spiders.

  • Does this work in the yard AND on my dog? What about furniture?

    This product can be applied to dogs and furniture, but is not for yards.
